蝉 (semi) = cicada

I heard about cicadas in Japan during the summer before coming here however I didn't expect them to be so loud and different from what I hear in France !

In Japan, the onomatopoeia for the sound cicadas made is "jin jin jin" or "mini miin miin" or "chan chan chan" (depending on the type of cicada !)
