梅雨「つゆ」:Rainy season
梅雨 in Japan usually lasts from the middle of June to the end of July in most regions. The further north in Japan you go, the more likely rain is.
The two kanji for rainy season are:
梅 meaning 'plum'.
雨 meaning 'rain'.
The two kanji together can also be read as 'ばいゆ' meaning 'plum rain', as the rainy reason coincides with the season where Japan's plums, or うめ, are most ripe.
